Music of the North Countries!

July 19 @ 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

Cool off listening to the great composers of the north countries: Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) of Russia composed a beautiful work for piano, violin, and cello, his trio Op. 50. You know his Nutcracker Suite, Swan Lake, 1812 Overture, and more.  Tchaikovsky has made careers happen with his compositions, which are not only beautiful but also challenging. Pianist Van Cliburn was catapulted to fame after winning the International Tchaikovsky piano competition in Moscow in 1958 at age 23. We will perform the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s seldom-heard trio, as well as his songs for soprano. We will contrast his work with the music of contemporary composer Ola Gjeilo (Yay-lo), born in Norway in 1978. Gjeilo’s music is described as cinematic and evocative, with a lush, harmonious sound. Violinist Keyreel Raskolenko will perform Norwegian fiddle and folk music.

Performers: violinists LeeAnne Chenoweth and Keyreel Raskolenko, cellist Alice Jeong-A Lee, pianist Heejung Kang, soprano Youna Hartgraves, and tenor Sergio Cepeda. As always, we provide complimentary wine/soft drinks/snacks.

There are only 85 seats at this location, so don’t delay getting your tickets! It is an intimate recital-style seating venue without tables.
